Description: Bring your own horse for this naturalist-led trail ride at a walk, trot and canter. Enjoy the late summer wildflowers and butterflies from a seat in the saddle and move out at a faster pace on trail as well. Walk-only riders, please attend afternoon ride. Must trailer your own horse to the Lakeside Shelter Parking Lot, where you will be met by a naturalist. HELMETS RECOMMENDED. Please bring a shovel to clean up after your horse in the parking lot. And please let us know if you intend to cancel, in consideration for waiting list. This 6 to 8-mile ride on the Gray Fox, Wagon, Meadowlark and Maple Highland Trails provides natural history lore so horse and rider may more fully enjoy their future rides through woodland and field. Hills, gravel, bridge and stream crossings should be anticipated on trail. To access the Maple Highlands Trail riders will ride a section of gravel Bridge Road where riders may encounter Amish buggies or bicycles. Participants may register for one or both trail rides with a lunch break between.
