| Description: | Seniors, enjoy a presentation called “Coal & Iron Ore: the B&O Lake Branch Railroad.” This is the story of “The Snake,” the Baltimore & Ohio railroad line that wound its way up, over and around Geauga’s hills between the Lake Erie port of Fairport Harbor and the steel mills of the Mahoning Valley. Enrich the program with your memories of this workhorse line that earned its classification as a mountain railroad for its steep grades and tortuous path on the edge of the Alleghenies. Refreshments provided. A collaboration with the Geauga Department on Aging and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. |
