Description: Net and tag Monarch butterflies, play an exciting life-sized board game dramatizing the hazards of this amazing journey, and catch a variety of butterflies, grasshoppers, praying mantids, katydids, beetles and other insects calling the meadow home. Nets provided or bring your own. Sun protection, socks, hat and long pants recommended for moving through the meadow. Monarch life cycle and meadow insect overview at 12:30 PM; netting in field surrounding shelter 1-4 PM. Participants may join in at any time. No insect collecting for removal from park. Naturalist does tagging. Person who netted butterfly will have name recorded in order for us to contact in the event of a recovery of butterfly along migration route or in Mexico wintering area. Monarch Migration game is about the dangers and difficulties of this dangerous journey and provides fun for all ages and abilities!

Observers may watch as butterflies are tagged. Join us in the shelter for the introductory program or play the Monarch Migration game along paved trail.
