Description: | The island of Rhodes lies just some 70 miles off the southwestern coast of Turkey in the Mediterranean. It is a hotbed for Mediterranean flora, especially orchids. In addition it has been a seat of power in the eastern Mediterranean for all major powers through time. The famous Colossus of Rhodes strode across it's capital city harbor. Bird migration, interesting insects and animals and remnants of bygone cultures attract tourists just as much as their famous beach playgrounds. Join Tom Sampliner, photographer and past Native Plant Society president, for this presentation in conjunction with the Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio. |
